Question Details: My daughter and her roommate let a couple move in just until they get on their feet. And they claiming Squatters Rights. And they will not clean up after themselves . And it is causing a hardship on my daughter and her roommate. What can they legally do?
These people are guests, or what the law calls "invitees"; as such once permission to be on the premises is rescinded by the lawful occupants, they go from invitees to tresspassers. They can legally and forcibly be removed by the police.
As for " squatters' rights", this is actually something in the law known as "adverse possession" and is completely inapplicable to this situation.
Tell them to pack and don't let the door hit them on the way out.
