Can a tenant legally move personal property in a rental?

Question Details: We rented a house from an individual. There was a pool table in the living room that was taken apart and had no felt. He asked us if it was there and we told him the condition it was in and he angrily stated "do what you want with it" We moved it to the basement and later sold it. We gave our 30 day notice and moved out. He now states it was criminal act and says he is going to sue us. Does he have the right to do this?
