If I apply for government job and get it, can I still get citizenship?
Question Details: I am from India but have.living in the U.S. for the past 7 years. I have a green card that was issued 3 years ago. Next month, I'm going to put in my citizenship application. I have done a Master's and PhD and am searching for a job. I was told that if I get a job working for the government, my citizenship will be revoked. Am I correct in assuming that?
who told you that? that's insane. if you are in the US, working for the US government and apply for US citizenship as part of your immigration process, why would it be revoked? in fact, some government jobs are not open to people UNLESS they have US citizenship because of clearances that may not be available to non-citizens. Just go ahead and submit your naturalization application if you are set on doing that and continue with the job search. Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
