If a year ago I prepaid a man $350 for firewood. but I've yet to receive the wood or my money back, is it financially worth it to take him to small claims court?

You can sue for breach of contract.
It is financially worth it because you can recover the amount you paid or the firewood and you can recover the court filing fee and process server fee if you prevail in the case.
