If a plumber causes damage to their during a service, whose responsibility is it to fix things?
My mother-in-law ecently hired a plumbing contractor to clear a clog in her sewer line. While attempting to clear the line, the equipment being used broke off in the pipe. The plumber said it is now her responsibility to retrieve the equipment from the line. Is this legitimate or are they trying to take advantage of her?

Under the laws of all states in this country since the plumber caused the problem for your mother-in-law, the plumber and his or her employer is legally responsible for the costs of repair, not your mother-in-law. I suggest that you mother-in-law call the plumber up requesting that he or she return to the home to immediately fix the problem at the plumber's cost.
