Since you only have liability coverage on your policy, your insurance company will not pay for the dmage to your vehicle.  As for the other driver's insurance carrier, if the other driver was completely at fault, his or her insurer will pay for the damage to your car.  If you do not agree that $500 will repair your car, take your car to two or three auto body shops and have them prepare written estimates.  If you find that it will cost more than $500 to repair your vehicle, send a copy of the estimates with a letter to the adjuster to prove that their offer is insufficient. There is also the possibility that the other driver's insurance company believes you are partially at fault for the accident and so is only giving you a percentage of your damages.  Get clarification on this from the adjuster.
