If I rear-ended a car last winter and was then employed by the company that owned the car the car, what can happen to me from this?
The people are suing both me and the company who owned the car I was driving.

The driver of a car as well as the owner can be held liable when the driver was at fault--as you would have been, if you rear-ended another car. If the other side wins, they will get a judgment against both you and the company. This will obviously affect your credit; and while the plaintiff (the person suing) will most likely try to collect the money from the company, if for some reason they can't (such as the company files for bankruptcy or goes out of business), they could then try to get it all from you.
