You are liable for the damage (cost of repairs) to the car you backed into.  It is irrelevant that you did not receive a ticket.
If the case is NOT settled, you will be sued for negligence.  A court judgment in favor of the other driver can be enforced against you with a wage garnishment.
Your state's Dept. of Motor Vehicles will also levy additional penalties against you for being uninsured.
