Can I get reimbursement for damaged appliances, etc. regarding the home that I just bought?
Question Details: We closed on a home last month. We didn't realize that the water heater and dishwasher leak and was the garage door is broken. Is the seller responsible for disclosing these defects? Can they be responsible to fix these issues?
The seller must disclose them if he was aware of them--or if the circumstances and facts show that he reasonably (that is, logically) must have been aware of them (that is, any seller in his situation would have known of them). A failure to disclose known conditions, or conditions of which the seller should have known, is fraud, and would let you sue for compenation, such as repair costs.
