What happens if a minor signs a contract?
Question Details: They are 16; their parents had no knowledge of it.
A minor cannot sign a contract, at least if it is to be legally enforceable; 18 is the age of majority in most states. That means until that time, a person is not considered legally to be an adult. Consequently, the minor would have to have a parent or guardian sign the contract for them in order for it to be valid and binding.
