Question Details: My ex-husband and I were married in AL. He filed for divorce while still living there. I have lived in LA for the past 2 years when he filed for divorce. I would like to marry my new boyfriend but I'm not sure what the law is on wait time. Do I need to go by AL law and wait 60 days or LA law and get married as soon as next week?
The waiting period is imposed by the state in which the divorce is granted. So you would have to wait the required time by the state of Alabama. If you marry before it may not be considered legal, even if done in a state that has no waiting period. Good luck.
