What is my legal liability if I hit a car while uninsured?
Question Details: I rear-ended it.
Since if you hit her from behind you are the "at fault" driver. Therefore, your legal liability is to pay for the repairs to the car. If you do not pay, then you can be sued in court and a judgment can be obtained against you by the other driver. At that point, they can have your wages garnished and take other actions against you in order to collect what is owed to them.
