Pull together any evidence you have of where you were, rather than in the vehicle--if you were at a restaurant at the time, a receipt with the date & time; if at work, something from HR showing that; if with a person, have them write, sign, and notarize a letter to that effect; etc. Provide copies to the police and the insurer of the evidence and wait for them to react or tell you what you have to do next.
