What are the qualifications to get your record expunged or sealed?
Question Details: Can you do this is you have multiple misdemeanor theft charges? I have not committed any crimes in over 5 years. I went back to school and achieved my RN license but my background is keeping me from getting a job. Any chance to have my theft record expunged or sealed?
Unfortunately, you are in the wrong state. Many states allow expungement: Nebraska does not. If the case was dismissed by the prosecutor, then it could be expunged, so even the record of the failed charges would disappear. Similarly, if the charges were dismissed following the successful completion of a diversionary program, they could be dismissed. But otherwise, no: any criminal conviction, including misdemeanor convictions, cannot be expunged in your state.
