The mother of a contracted client wants a refund, should I be speaking with her or dealing directly with the contracted client?
Question Details: The mother paid for the services and wants the money back due to her claim that we did not do a good job. We have not heard from the bride, who is not a minor, and the contract was signed by her. The mother is placing a lot of pressure on us. Should I discontinue speaking with her and contact the bride directly?
Yes, unless the mother has a valid power of attorney from the bride (and shows it to you--preferrably by giving you a copy for your records) whether or not she paid is irrelevant: the bride signed the contract and so is your client/customer. The mother has no legal relationship to the service you provided or your business and has no right to meddle. You should be speaking to your client, not her mother. Again, having paid is irrelevant, since she was not the one who contracted with you.
