What to do regarding being bullied into accepting a deal?

Question Details: My son received a summons to appear for an incident that happened at a youth basketball game. After he received this, I talked to the magistrate about the incident. She told me that we would be able to tell our side of the story to the judge. After we arrived the city attorney called my son into a private room. He then threatened him with jail time and said, "I want to try your ass". This scared the hell out of my 27 year-old unemployed son with anxiety issues. He was never ask his side of the story or if he had witnesses which he did. He was told he had to pay $217 and if there were no more incidents with accuser it would be erased in 1 year. He wasn't convicted of a crime, just bullied into accepting this deal. I was there when the supposed incident happened and it didn't happen.
