Does a wife have rights to real estate if it is in her husband's name only?
Question Details: I have been married for over 15 years. My husband has bought a few houses over the years but never put my name on any of them. He tells me that it does not matter we are married if we split he would have to split everything. I need to know if this is true.
The general rule is that property purchased during a marriage is considered to be marital property, so long as it is purchased with marital funds. If your husband used money he earned during the marriage to purchase these properties then they are considered marital. But I would press him about why he isn't putting your name on them. Good luck.
