How can I make an N-400 filing if I'll be out of the country?
Question Details: I'll be eligible to file for citizenship by the end of this month. I'll be on vacation for the 6-7 weeks starting from next week and I don't want to apply before leaving and miss the finger printing appointment. Will it be OK to complete my application and leave it with a friend and ask him to post it in 3 weeks while I'm on vacation?
No, you have to be physically present in the country in order to file for your naturalization. It cannot be filed while you are abroad. you can simply wait and file it when you return to the US. the few weeks while you are gone will not make a difference in terms of processing times.
