If I work at a barber shop, is the owner allowed to charge a daily percentage?
Question Details: I am confused. I am being told that the owner of a barber shop cannot charge a daily percentage. That it needs to be a set amount. Is this true? We are considered subcontractors who file a 1099 and pay our taxes separately every year.
If you are subcontractors, as you indicate, it is legal for them to charge you a daily percentage. Any two businesses--and from a legal perspective, a subcontractor is his or her own separate business--can negotiate any terms for, for example, a booth, chair, or space rental, including the payment of a percentage of daily revenue.
