How many days can an employer have an employee out on unpaid suspension?

Question Details: I am an Ops Manager. I made a decision that was not part of the process at work. My decision did not create any safety issues; there were no issues of theft. My decision did cause the company to miss some orders. The next day my badge was taken and I escorted off of the premises. I wasn't told how long the suspension would be, only that it was under investigation. It has now been 2 months without pay. Also, I signed a non-compete agreement when I started the job 17 years ago, therefore it's difficult for me to find employment in my field.
