If I was in the middle car in a chain reaction in which the first car and I were both stopped, do I have any fault?
Question Details: I was a middle car in a three car pile-up. The first car and I were both stopped when the third car ran into my car pushing me into the first car. If the first car is now suing the third car and potentially me, am I at any risk for sharing in any fault the third car driver has no money to pay damages but I do?
You are not liable for the accident. Only the third car is liable for damages to your car and the first car because the third car's negligence started the chain reaction . Therefore, the first car won't collect any damages from you.
