If my boss changes my schedule on my day off, can I get fired for not showing up?

Question Details: I was scheduled to have Friday and Saturday and Sunday off but my boss called my cell on Friday night and left a message to call him back for an emergency. I went out of town so I didn't get the message until Monday. When I arrived for work Monday I saw on the schedule that I had been added a shift for Saturday morning at 7:30. When I clocked in on Monday it said I had an unexcused absence for Saturday. Can I be reprimanded for a schedule change that I never confirmed that I was even aware of?
