What to do if I live in Germany and can’t attend a court date regarding alimony issues?
I am divorced and entitled to alimony. My ex-husband wants to stop all alimony to me. A court date is set for August 17 but I am unable to fly to the U.S. I can’t afford a lawyer. What should I do?

Call the court and ask if you can make a telephone appearance instead of being physically present in the courtroom.
If you are allowed to make a telephone appearance, ask the court clerk for the required form to request a telephone appearance and the deadline for filing that form with the court.
If the correct form is not filed and / or you miss the filing deadline, your request for a telephone appearance will be denied.
