You state that you can "prove" that the Plaintiff has made a false statement, but you don't describe any proof or any witness testimony other than your own--i.e. it will be your word vs. the plaintiff's, and if this comes down to a lawsuit (e.g. your insurer does not settle it ahead of time) the outcome will depend on who the court believes. You will have an advantage, however, in that since he is suing you, he must prove his case--that means he must be at least fractionally more persuasive or credible than you. If you and he are equally credible, he will have failed to prove his case and lose.
As to whether he suffers any consequences--it is unlikely, unless you had compelling proof that he knowingly made a false statement.
