What can I do about a breach of confidentiality by my companyr’s HR department?

There was an issue at my job with my boss, so I and a co-worker went to the HR executive privately about the issue. We all had a meeting My boss’s executive assistant texted him and informed him about the meeting. My boss then called me and demanded that I tell him about the it. I did in order to save my job. Were my rights comprised?

Unfortunately, there is no right to confidentiality in the workplace unless given under the terms of an employment contract or union agreement. Accordingly, you had not rights to be violated. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will" which means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit absent some form of legally actionable discrimination.
