How to get my ex-boyfriend's warrant dropped?
Question Details: I called police on my boyfriend because we were in disagreement on something. I told them that he put his hands on my neck area but it was a lie. What he did was try to get out of the bathroom and his finger cut my necklace and ripped it off. It was a necklace that my mom gave me when she passed away and I was so furious, so I called the cops and lied. I want to make it right so he doesn't go to jail.

The fact is that in criminal cases it is up to the state and not the alleged victim as to whether or not criminal charges are filed. If the alleged victim will not cooperate but there is sufficient other evidence to support a conviction, then the case can still move forward. Further, many times alleged victims recant their stories due to pressure or even physical intimidation, so DA's are often times reluctant to drop DV charges. Finally, as to what you can expect to happen to you if you recant, since this frequently happen, legal action against you will probably not be be taken (however it could since giving a false statement to the police is a crime).
