How long can an insurance company hold an accident agaimst you?

If you had an accident 9 or 10 years ago and recently had another, can your insurance company cancel your policy. Is that legal?

Unfortunartely, an insurer may hold it against you forever if they want. Insurers are not forced to offer insurance; they are private companies, who choose to offer insurance and who are allowed to set their own criteria for coverage--i.e. what to take into account, for how long, and what the impact of those events or criteria are on rates or premiums. If they choose to still hold a decade-ago accident against you, thery can.
