Do small businesses have to keep clock in/out records?
Question Details: I worked for a small business and something felt a bit off about the way the owner runs it. I was wondering, does she have to keep the records of the times we clock in and out? If she does have to keep the records and I ask her for them, can she keep them from me?
If you are hourly (that is, paid by the number of hours worked; not on an annual salary), then yes, she has to keep accurate records of when you clock in and out under the labor nd wage laws (like the Fair Labor Standards Act or FLSA) and must provide them to you on request so you can verify your hours.
