Denial of claim

Apparently my A/C system has been leaking for some time. It seems that it was improperly installed since there is no access to the drain pan. We have always maintained the system where could. We did not realize it was leaking until this week but the damage has been done. Our insurance agent informed us that we probably wont be covered. This is devastating news for us as we cannot afford the necessary repairs. Can you help?

Ask the insurance agent why the damage from the leak is not covered.
Review the language in your insurance policy to determine if the agent's reason for denial is valid. Look at the exclusions in the policy.
If the denial of coverage is not valid, contact your state's insurance commissioner.
If the issue is not resolved, you may want to consider filing a bad faith claim against your insurance company.
