Can an employer restrict where you can go on a day off?
Question Details: My employer has told us that when we take a day off we have to be available to be called into work if needed. Is that legal if we are using our own leave time but cannot go where we want?
Yes, it is legal: employers can require employees to be available to come into work if necessary on weekends, holidays, or days off. If you are called in, you'd have to be paid wages from the when you are called in and would no longer be using vacation time (if you took/used PTO).
