Can an employer fire you without warning?

Question Details: About 5 months ago I was fired after almost 5 years. I was just given raise 2 weeks prior. They did hire another girl who was there for about 8 months. I worked with her but she did not work with me; she was not a team player at all. She was always preaching God to me. I started to complain about her and that is when I was let go. No verbal warning or written warning was ever given.
