Can I live in a travel trailer on my property?
Question Details: We're in the process of purchasing a house along with the lot next door. The house is rented by a tenant and we are hoping to use the adjoining land as a space to put 2 travel trailers and live there full-time. Is this allowed? Were converting them into tiny houses pulling out the furniture and putting in normal furniture, painting, insulation, etc. I've read that we may need to pay taxes as it's an additional dwelling unit but I can't seem to find any other info on the subject.

This is a local zoning, building code, and/or health code issue; it is not a state law, federal law, or common law issue. The best way to get an answer is to contact the building or housing department at either the municipal and/or county level (whichever level of government handles zoning, etc. where you live) and simply ask the clerk(s) there your question. They can very likely provide you and answer and direct you to reference the relevant code or ordinance sections, so you can review them yourself and double check their conclusion. If the first person you speak to can't provide the answer, they should be able to direct you to whomever can help you.
