Can I be written up for a cashier shortage if I’m not the only person in the drawer?

I’m a bookkeeper and we have an office register. Sometimes office help
uses it. If it comes up short,I get written up for it. I don’t think
that is fair. The manager says it’s my responsibility but he has it
set for others to use. How is it my responsibility then?

Unless these write-ups violate the terms of an employment contract or union agreement, you have no claim here. The fact is that most work relationships are "at will". This means that a company can set the conditions of employment much as it sees fit (absent some form of legally actionable discrimination). So, unless you want to complain and risk termination, there really isn't much that you can do other than look for other employment now.
