Question Details: About 20 years ago, I got married. That relationship ended within the first year but we never divorced. Maybe a year later I received a call stating that he passed away and I never checked to see if that information was true or not. So I just moved on with life and remarried 17 years ago. In recent years, I have come to find out that my first husband did not die until 9 years ago. Am I legally married or considered a widow?
You are a widow since your second "marriage" was null and void because you were legally married to your first husband at the time.
