we are being evicted for asking for repairs be made we believe
Question Details: My wife and two teenage sons have lived in this rental for 3 years and are now being evicted we have always been able to work things out with our landlord. this time we have ask them to fix the tile on the shower wall for six months and have been waiting as the problems get worse.
I am a lawyer in CT and practice in this area of the law. I would need to see the eviction papers here. I need to see the basis for the eviction. the landlord should be making the repairs. I suggest that if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, you appear in court and argue with the judge that the landlord is running a slum and does not want to make the repairs to keep the building up to code and provide basis necessities. You can also threaten the landlord in a letter that if he continues to try to evict you, you will report him to the housing authorites and attorney general about his conduct and failure to act properly. if you can afford a lawyer, hire one and get him involved in trying to work out a deal.
