What to do if my landlord was cited by the city for code violations and I have stopped paying rent?

Question Details: The landlord has been cited for electrical, kitchen, bathroom, windows, front door, etc code violations. I just paid him $4000 to move in and can not just pick up and move back out. The landlord now wants to evict me. I have only been here for 2 months. What do I do and how to proceed. The City comes back into the unit as of Monday and starts pressing charges against him.
