I'm a minor and was caught drinking, do I need to get a lawyer?
I'm 20 and was caught under age drinking. Should I plead guilty or no contest? And if found guilty what are the consequences. Should I speak with a DUI attorney? I'm in Blount, TN.

Yes, you should speak with a lawyer about this. The fact is that anytime a criminal matter is at issue having skilled legal counsel is advisable. Additionally, TN has some of the stiffest penalties for underage drinking in the country. It is considered to be a Class A misdemeanor (the highest level of misdemeanors). If you are convicted, you could serve a sentence of up to 11 months and 29 days, and a fine up to $2,500. A skilled attorney may be able to have the charge dismissed or at least reduced.
