Am I liable for my recently deceased mother's medical and credit card bills?

Question Details:

My mom recently passed away with no will or trust. Her bank account of only a few thousand dollars was payable to me upon death, and her home was in my name as joint tenant with right of survivorship. Since I took over her assets without any official executorship, am I accountable for paying all the medical bills coming through, as well as her credit card bill? What can they do to me if I am not able to pay these things?
